ANE's contribution to the humanitarian and development work in Ethiopia and beyond has been recognized twice by the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) and World Sustainability Congress.
The first award virtually received, in 2020, consisted of two elements referring to performance excellence and innovative leaderships while the second award ANE received this year (2025), received, in person, through its Managing Director, Mr. Salihu Sultan, refers to impactful leadership. The second award was given after ANE's case was presented to the Congress held in Mumbai, India, on February 2025.
The Interface Between Corporate Social Responsibility & Humanitarian/Development Work
There is a big interface between CSR and what humanitarian /development NGOs, like ANE, do responding to humanitarian and development challenges
ANE sees the need to effectively use CSR as a major source to fill the major funding gap in humanitarian and development engagement working together with the private sector. This requires a cooperative arrangement between the humanitarian/development NGOs and the private sector where the latter enhance the CSR contribution and the former can put the same into good use pursuing humanitarian and development objectives for the benefit of humanity especially improving the lives and livelihoods of the people in need.
Since its establishment in 2012, ANE has been growing consistently reaching out to and serving an increasing number of vulnerable communities including refugees, and other communities displaced by conflict and climate change. ANE's overall strength is built around three critical factors:-
• It is sharpening its institutional / operational capacities as one of the leading national NGOs in service delivery promptly responding to both humanitarian/ development challenges
• It is consolidating its partnership network which has enabled it to work with diverse partners including public sector organizations UN agencies national and international NGOs with the program content focusing on food security, water/sanitation, shelter/infrastructure, energy/ environment, health/nutrition as well as education
• The partnership ANE recently launched with IGAD has enabled it to assume a greater scope of responsibility with a license to operate not only in Ethiopia but also in all IGAD-member states including Djibouti, Eritrea, Somali, South Sudan, Sudan and Uganda. These countries share similar, if not the same, humanitarian and development needs.
