Action for the Needy in Ethiopia (ANE) and Habitat for Humanity Ethiopia (HFHE) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking the beginning of a strategic partnership to strengthen institutional collaboration and advance humanitarian and development efforts in Ethiopia.

The agreement reflects the shared commitment of both organizations to work together in support of vulnerable, underserved, and hard-to-reach communities through more coordinated, inclusive, and sustainable interventions.

The partnership provides a structured framework for cooperation in key areas, including humanitarian and development programming, capacity strengthening, advocacy, visibility, resource mobilization, knowledge management, and community engagement. It places particular emphasis on housing and shelter, infrastructure, WASH, livelihoods, energy, environmental protection, resilience building, and inclusive community development.

The MoU was signed in Addis Ababa in the presence of senior leadership from both institutions. ANE was represented by Mr. Salihu Sultan, Managing Director, while HFHE was represented by Mr. Yitna Tekalegne, National Director and Representative to the African Union. Senior management members and staff members from both organizations also attended the ceremony, reaffirming their collective commitment to principled partnership and results-oriented collaboration.

This partnership builds on the complementary strengths of the two institutions. Habitat for Humanity Ethiopia brings recognized expertise in shelter, housing, community development, volunteer engagement, and housing disaster resilience, while ANE contributes broad grassroots presence and extensive field experience in humanitarian and development interventions across Ethiopia, including shelter, WASH, infrastructure, livelihoods, emergency response, energy, and environmental programming.

At a time when communities continue to face interconnected challenges such as inadequate shelter, limited access to water and sanitation, climate- and disaster-related shocks, and barriers to livelihood opportunities, both organizations recognize the need for integrated and strategically coordinated responses. Through this MoU, ANE and HFHE aim to translate shared commitment into practical action that improves dignity, resilience, and opportunities for communities most in need.

The partnership is also anchored in the principles of mutual respect, transparency, professionalism, accountability, safeguarding, inclusion, and compliance with applicable legal and institutional standards. These principles will help ensure that the collaboration remains practical, credible, and impactful as both organizations move forward together.

ANE welcomes this milestone as an important step toward stronger collaboration and expanded collective impact in Ethiopia's humanitarian and development landscape.
