Company Description

Action for the Needy in Ethiopia (ANE) is an indigenous, nonprofit, humanitarian organization that has increasingly proved its organizational and operational capacities in the provision of critical humanitarian needs of refugees from neighboring countries and vulnerable host communities. Since 2012, we have been implementing development and emergency programs in all regions of the country and more than 2,000,000 beneficiaries were served.

ANE has been working with intuitional donors including UNHCR, USAID, IOM, WFP, UNOCHA, IRC, PIE, IRC, WV, IGAD, and WVV as well as government counterpart including Refugee and Returnees Service (RRS), Authority for Civil Society Organizations (ACSO), Federal, Regional and Zonal Sectorial bureaus.

Currently ANE has more than 500 program and support staff all over the country and its operations are expanding to Djibouti and South Sudan.

Project Descriptions

ANE has Head Quarter in Addis Ababa and operational offices in Gambela, Assosa, Nekemte, Metekel, Dabat/Debark, Mekele, Shire, Asayta, Dessie, Mega, Bullhora, Negele, Melkedida, and Jiggiga.

In collaboration with donors and through integrated services approach ANE addressed the needs of the most in need and vulnerable communities with various humanitarian services. This includes:

  • Construction and maintenance of emergency and transitional shelters, school and health service infrastructure, bridges, and access roads.
  • Construction and maintenance of water and sanitation facilities.
  • Provision of water, sanitation, and hygiene services and awareness creations.
  • Provision of emergency relief items including supplementary food, cloths, and Non-Food Items (NFIs).
  • Environmental protection and awareness creations.
  • Provision of Energy materials including stoves, brickettes and charcoals.
  • Lead and jointly lead shelter clusters teams and actively participates in Shelter and WASH cluster activites.

Position Descriptions

Job Brief

We are looking for a Senior Finance Officer to take charge of the financial health of our field and branch office by administering accounting operations to meet the requirements of donors, Authority for Civil Society Organizations (ACSO), Federal and Regional Government bureaus.

You should be familiar with audits, financial management of NGOs, activity and account codes and budget preparations. Our ideal candidate demonstrates interest in managing accounting activities, including bank reconciliations, accounts payable and accounts receivable. You should also have excellent organizational skills and be able to handle time-sensitive tasks.Ultimately, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day management of our financial transactions and procedures.


  • Keep accurate records for all daily transactions
  • Review and control payments and expenditures
  • Ensure timely settlements of government obligations such as tax and pensions
  • Ensure timely settlements of work advances, travel advances, purchase advances, petty cash, and supplier advances
  • Update internal systems with financial data
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  • Reconcile bank statements
  • Participate in financial audits
  • Track bank deposits and payments
  • Assist with budget preparation
  • Review and implement financial policies
  • Serve as the finance and accounting focal person for the field office
  • Additional roles might be assigned considering the segregation of duties.

Requirements and skills

  • BSc degree in Finance, Accounting or Related fields
  • More than six years of proven work experience as a Senior Finance Officer or similar role. NGOs experience is preferable.
  • Solid knowledge of financial and accounting procedures as well as internal controls.
  • Knowledge of financial management of NGOs.
  • Experience using financial software and MS Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of financial and tax regulations.
  • Knowledge of doners financial reporting is advantageous.
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
  • Sharp time management skills and experience in working in tight environment.
  • Good communication skills verbal and written.
  • Strong ethics, with an ability to manage confidential data.
