The Afar Region formerly known as Region 2, is a regional state in northeastern Ethiopia and the homeland of the Afar people. Its capital is the planned city of Semera, which lies on the paved Awash-Assab highway. It's bordered by Eritrea to the north and Djibouti to the northeast, and shares regional borders with the Tigray, Amhara, Oromo and Somali regions. [Wikipedia]

ANE in Afar have 1 branch office in Semera and 2 Sub offices in Asaita and Berahle. It is activly working on thematic areas such as Environment and Energy, Shelter and WASH.Recently, ANE was intervene In Afar regional state to support conflict affected peoples with a close collaboration of UNHCR and regional DRMO. Under the project implimentation ANE construct emergency family tent, construction of emergency communal shleter, construction of communal kitchen blocks for IDPs,and Rehablitation of infrastructures at diffrent IDPs centers after camp closure.

What We Have Done So far in Afar

In 2022, ANE was intervene In Afar regional state to support conflict affected peoples with a close collaboration of UNHCR and regional DRMO. Under the project implimentation ANE construct emergency family tent, construction of emergency communal shleter, construction of communal kitchen blocks for IDPs,and Rehablitation of infrastructures at diffrent IDPs centers after camp closure.

This project aims to improve access to WASH faclities and services to save and sustain lives of of the conflictaffected IDPs and host communities with implimenter ANE with collaboration of EHF/OCHA and Regional DRMO. Under the project ANE also provide WASH /NFI kit for 400HH and dignity kit for 500 female HH.

ANE with collaboration of OCHA and conserting COOPI cover WASH parts of the project and ANE covers Shelter parts.This project aims to save and sustain lives and provide emergency shelter services to the conflict affected peoples in Erebti woredas of Zone 2,Afar through provision of timely and appropriate shelter /NFI and ensure that conflict affected peoples have adequate protection, safety, dignity, well-being and equitable access to the shelter solution
