ANE Signed A Remarkable Project Agreement With Finnish Refugee Council (FRC)

Action for the Needy in Ethiopia (ANE) signed a project agreement with Finnish Refugee Council (FRC). The agreement was signed by Her Excellency honorable Lotta Kinnunen, Country Director of FRC and by His Excellency Mr. Salihu Sultan Bilo, Managing Director of ANE. The agreement is the first ever project agreement signed by FRC with local partners in Ethiopia. The project will be implemented in south Wollo zone of Amhara region to provide emergency support to internally displaced people (IDPs) and host communities (returnees) in South Wollo zone ofAmhara region.

The project will be implemented over a year periodand provides multi-sector emergency support and protection services for a total of 30,000 IDPs and host communities in Worebabu, Hayik, Telehuledere and Kuta Ber woredas of south Wollo zone that have been hosting IDPs and receiving large number of returnees. The project mainly provides integrated WASH, Emergency Shelter (ES) and Non-Food Items (NFI) as well as Multi-sector kits for the beneficiaries and the woreda sector offices. The project gave emphasis to gender and inclusion and accordingly at least 50% of the beneficiaries will be women; 10% of them elderly people and another 5% of the beneficiaries will be People with Disability (PWDs). FRC will have closely oversight of the project and provides the necessary technical support in implementation of the project thereby assigning staff having the required technical caliber.

During signing of the agreement, Her Excellency honorable Lotta Kinnunen explained FRC’s commitment to strengthen this pioneering partnership and noted that ANE needs to maintain professional standards and practices of administration and accounting and shall take responsibility to ensure that no illegal or corrupt practices occur in any way connected with the grant. She also emphasised that, ANE shall be committed to comply with the universal humanitarian principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality and independence and the Code of Conduct for the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and NGOs in Disaster Relief. H.E. Mr. Salihu Sultan on his part expressed his appreciation for the Grand award by FRC that allow us to reach out our people suffering from the crisis. He also noted that ANE is a pioneer national local humanitarian organization that has been striving to meet the basic needs of the most vulnerable people across all parts of the nation and underscored that ANE is committed to successfully implement the project maintaining the highest standards of the donor codes of conduct and policies as well as basic humanitarian principles.
