Action for the needy in Ethiopia (ANE) signed a sub-delegation agreement with Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) on August 29, 2023 in Djibouti. The sub-delegation agreement was signed by His Excellency Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu, Executive Secretary of IGAD and Mr. Salihu Sultan, Managing Director of Action for the needy in Ethiopia. The sub-delegation agreement t enables the sub-delgatee(ANE) to implement the project entitled Implementation of Infrastructure and Accompanying measures in Moyale, Ethiopia financed by the Regional Migration Fund(RMF) .
The project will be implemented in 34 months and aims to address the challenges and promote the potential opportunities linked to migration among migrants and host community in the IGAD region. It also creates economic opportunities, improve living conditions and promote social cohesion among migrants and host communities.
The project enables IGAD and ANE to address problems and challenges pertaining to migration that is often driven by structural challenges such as poverty and lack of economic opportunities which force a significant number of people in need to take a variety of risks including migration.. Migration continues to be a formidable challenge in the places of origin (e.g., loss of young, and ambitious work force ) as well as in places of transit and destination (e.g., increased pressure on public infrastructure and natural resources).
